It’s HBJ… and it’s been a while 😉 How’s it going? I decided to redesign my website and thus – relaunch my blog. This has been on my to-do for quite some time. Crazy how busy we can get and lose sight of our goals. Why do we let that happen to us? I hope I’m not the only one who does this. Suggestions on how to get organized and stay focused on goals is coming to a blog post near you, soon… don’t you worry. I think I need this print, haha.
So, how have you all been? This past year (2016) was a year of growth for me. Growing pains were certainly felt, but good things happened as well. I’ve spent the majority of my free time in 2017 so far pinpointing the mood I’d like to set for the year. Unlike last year, I have not written a new year’s resolution’s list. I’m not sure that I’m going to, either. I think I’d like to focus on goals that I can make a lifestyle. More to come on that, too. I’m curious though – if you have written a new year’s resolution list for yourself, what did you put on that list? We might have similar goals and it’d be great to have a friend or two along for the ride.
Let’s catch you up to speed. This past year has been both good and it has been challenging. Mike (my boyfriend incase you don’t know me personally) moved in this past month. Into my studio apartment. That’s 683 sq feet… (cue the shocked face emoji). It has had it’s challenges (namely: closet), but has also been great in most ways. We have had to do some downsizing – but that can be a good thing! One of my goals this year is to see where I can afford to ‘clean the clutter’. Less is more, y’all. I’m learning that – slowly but surely. Also more to come on that. (Boy, I’ve got a lot to talk about!)
The view from the new digs. The whole 683 sq feet of digs.
Towards the end of the year I started a new position within my company. I faced the most of my challenges of 2016 in this role, but in retrospect, I have grown the most because of it as well. Don’t be afraid to take on new opportunities that both scare the crap out of you and encourage you to grow – especially if you feel like you’re not ready. Most of the time the universe is pushing you to experience these life changes to better you personally and professionally – making you well equipped to take on more in future.
Another hobby I have taken on is cooking! I hope to write a few (or many) blogs about new recipes I have come across or – gasp – have actually created myself. I’ll lean a lot on Mike for help on this as he is great in the kitchen ;). But really though, ever since I met him he has encouraged me to explore cooking (something I have always wanted to do but never had the confidence in my ability to do), eating every meal I’ve made, no matter if it wasn’t amazing and giving me pointers a long the way.
Salmon Meatballs, ladies and gents. Can I get an amen?!
Sit back, relax, and get ready for the show. I’m both anxious and excited to share this blogging journey with you all. Read it, skim it, or ignore it altogether – totally up to you guys 🙂 I hope some of you will join and learn along the way with me. If you have any suggestions on topics you’d like to read about – leave a comment or two below!
